Chief Data Manager

Data as an Asset Practise, Zürich (Switzerland)

Claritysquare technology is one of the world’s pioneers in providing analytical services to organizations in evaluating their data landscape, data management assets, tools and analytical capabilities.  This includes recommending emerging practices for enterprise data architectures such as data lakes.

As a part of this, the Chief Data Manager plans and evaluates multiple open source and commercial tools available in the market, with an objective of proposing the best fit for a specific technical landscape supported by multiple data centric proof of concepts (PoC).

Considering that digital transformation is a key agenda for most organizations globally, Claritysquare Technology’s mission is to support global enterprises with their ‘Creating data as an asset’ offerings.  The focus of the engagements is primarily, formulate the data strategy & enable the translation of the strategy into an actionable plan to support the business strategy in achieving its vision.

The Chief Data Manager plays a critical role in supporting Chief Data Officers of large enterprises as well as the Chief Data Partner of the firm, Claritysquare Technology, in delivering the Data as an Asset (DAAS) Index.

As an experienced professional with a hybrid set of skills that span both business and technology functions, the Chief Data Manager will be part of our Zurich based Data as an asset (DAAS) practice.

Responsibilities

The practice is designed to support the functions of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and other CxO functions including board support but not limited to the following:

  • Strong leadership and strong communication skills including expert level data visualization skills
  • Experience in leading major data centric information management programs in key business areas
  • Expertise or at least familiarity with Big Data solutions such as Hadoop, MapReduce and/or HBase
  • Experience in defining the data strategy followed by operationalizing the data strategy including data governance and data quality programs in large global organizations through detailed data landscape assessments with the use of Data as an Asset (DAAS) index
  • Familiarity with enterprise data lifecycle management with specific focus on emerging technologies for big data
  • Expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies specifically for data repositories, data lakes, data warehouse and data marts
  • Experience of managing large global teams that are geographically dispersed
  • Though the primary language of communication is English working knowledge of the following languages is helpful: German, French, Polish & Hindi
  • Knowledge of building and supporting specialist data teams across the organizations
  • Knowledge of developing business cases for technical projects with a lot of uncertainties including knowledge of valuations with specific focus on data assets
  • Familiarity with different data and analytic modelling techniques and tools
  • Familiarity with industry data models including but not limited to BDW, IIW, HPDM, TDW etc
  • Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
  • Relevant industry certification
  • Expert knowledge in technical assessments of tools, technologies and vendors specifically in emerging technologies
  • Expert knowledge in architectural assessments in large global institutions
  • Expertise in data visualization methods, tools and techniques.  Min 12 years of data visualization experience
Your key skills 

  • More than 5 years of hands-on experience with production-scale Hadoop architectures (incl. YARN, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, HBase. Oozie, Spark)
  • Thorough understanding of the capabilities of commercial Apache Hadoop distributions such as e.g. IBM, Hortonworks, Cloudera, or MapR and their integration options with traditional data warehousing and BI tools (such as e.g. Teradata, IBM DB2 / Netezza / DataStage / Cognos, Informatica, Ab Initio, Talend, CADIS, Pentaho, Paxata, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, ODI, OBIA, DAC)
  • Substantial expertise in Advanced Analytics technologies & solutions (incl. SPSS, SAS, R, Tableau, Qlikview, OBIEE)
  • Substantial expertise in setting up assessment lab environments

Role is based out of Zürich, Switzerland as company is founded and operates from Switzerland.

Key Attributes, Skills and Ideal Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in in-depth knowledge of the technology and vendor landscape for Big Data & Analytics– including the Hadoop Ecosystem, NoSQL approaches Advanced Analytics, Cognitive Computing and Cloud Data Management
  • At least 10 years of experience in /as an architect in the data warehousing and BI space (incl. SQL / Data Modelling, Data Integration, Data Governance, Data Management and Knowledge of industry models like IIW, HPDM, TOGAF)
  • At least 10 years of experience in / experience across systems integration, information management business analytics and architecture
  • At least 10 years of experience in / experience of a data warehouse environment and knowledge of existing and emerging data integration approaches
  • At least 10 years of experience in solution architecture – experience in traditional information management
  • At least 10 years of experience in data architecture – experience of designing and developing logical data models
  • At least 5 years of experience in Big Data project consulting – using Hadoop, Mapreduce and NoSql technologies
  • At least 5 years of experience in integration of Big Data & Analytics to a traditional data architecture
  • At least 5 years of experience in design – experience with programming on high-scale or distributed systems (such as Hadoop)
  • At least 5 years of experience in / experience with high performance distributed parallel file system storage technology such as GPFS, GFS, CloudStore, HDFS or similar
  • Must have experience in Dimensional modelling on various domains like Telecoms, Financial Services – Retail Banking, Investment Banking, Private Banking, Insurance & Re-insurance, Private Equity, Infrastructure, Energy & Utilities, Retail, Heath Care, Hospitality, Real Estate, Social & Public Sector
  • At least 5 years of experience in providing onsite/online and off site trainings on various technologies of data integration and Big Data Analytics to various corporates. This includes preparing the lab material, lab environments with student guides and respective handouts
